What is eSIM?

eSIM is a digital SIM entrenched in your phone that allows you to activate a mobile number without using a physical SIM.

eSIM Registration & Activation Process

  • The customer has to visit the nearest Zong Customer Service Centre / Franchise to get eSIM.
  • eSIM can be availed by the Book Your Number option or by replacing any existing Zong number with eSIM.
  • After BVS verification for BYN / SIM Replacement, MSISDN & ICCID will be mapped with an eSIM Profile.
  • A physical voucher having an eSIM QR code will be handed over to the customer.
  • A customer has to scan the QR code by the below process to download the eSIM profile.
    • The device/mobile should be connected to the internet / Wifi.
    • Select cellular settings from the device settings option.
    • Select the Add Cellular Plan option under cellular settings.
    • Open the mobile camera to scan the QR code.
    • Once the QR code is scanned. eSIM Profile will be downloaded on the device and eSIM will be ready to use.

 

Step by Step Activation

For Your iPhone

  • Make sure the iPhone X, iPhone XS Max, or iPhone XR is updated to iOS 12.1 and above (you can check eSIM-enabled handsets in the Handset Supported section below).
  • Scan the QR code provided by our agent.
  • Go to Settings > Cellular.
  • Select “Add Cellular Plan” to launch the camera automatically.
  • Use your iPhone to scan the QR code.

 

For Your Android Phone

  • Make sure to update your eSIM-enabled Android handset to the latest version. You can check for eSIM-enabled handsets in the supported section below.
  • Scan the QR code provided by our agent.
  • Go to Settings> SIM Card Manager.
  • Select eSIM > Add Mobile Plan to launch the camera automatically.
  • Use your phone to scan the QR code.
  • Your eSIM is ready to use.

eSIM Charges

Rs. 1500 will be charged to the customer for eSIM (at Zong Customer Service Centres)

FAQ’s

Is Biometric verification required for getting eSIM?

Before activating the eSIM, you will need to undergo biometric verification.

What if I want to change my handset, can I re-scan the existing QR code?

If you change your phone or delete your old eSIM profile, you need a new QR code.

Can I share the eSIM QR code with anyone?

For security reasons, please do not share the QR code with anyone.

Do I have to get the eSIM IMEI registered by PTA?

eSIM activates eSIM IMEI on your phone. To avoid blocking in DIRBS please perform the following steps.

  • Send both IMEIs to 8484.
  • Kindly pay the phone tax first to continue using eSIM if you have not paid the tax.

Will my current services work if I replace my physical SIM with the eSIM?

Yes, all of your existing services and tariffs will exist on your new eSIM.

Will my eSIM on my iPhone work while roaming?

Yes, it will.
